HSK 1 Word List (New HSK 3.0, 300 Words): How to Learn It + Free Flashcards
The HSK (汉语水平考试 Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) is the standard Chinese proficiency test. In the new three-stage, nine-level syllabus, usually called HSK 3.0, Level 1 has 300 words. The old HSK 1 had 150. If you are starting out, this is the list to learn.

A simple 6-week plan for 300 words
- 10 new words a day, 5 days a week covers all 300 words in 6 weeks.
- Say it out loud. Read the pinyin with its tone mark, then say the word without looking.
- Use spaced review. Sort cards into "know", "almost" and "new" piles. Review "new" every day, "almost" every 2–3 days and "know" once a week.
- Write a few, read them all. At Level 1, recognising characters matters more than writing every one. Pick 2–3 characters a day to write on practice paper.
- Make sentences: 我爱吃包子。 Wǒ ài chī bāozi. – I love eating steamed buns.
How to print double-sided flashcards
Print page 1 (fronts), then put the sheet back in the printer and print page 2 (backs) on the other side, flipping on the long edge. Cut along the lines. If your printer doesn't line up, print single-sided and glue the pages back to back.
